 Darwin Airport
If you’re flying in from overseas into the Northern Territory, then chances are you’ll be flying in
to Darwin Airport. This is because Darwin Airport
is the only airport in the territory which services international flights. If
you want to fly to Alice Springs and check out
that big red rock in the scrub, you’ll need to book a domestic flight.
Darwin International Airport is about 13 km away from the city’s central business district, and also
services regional and national carriers. Access to the terminal is via Henry Wrigley Drive,
off McMillans Road.
Parking there seems to be exceptionally
cheap, with one calendar day (or part thereof) being a mere $4. If you want
your car put away somewhere secure, there is a locked compound available at
$13.20 per day.
If you don’t have a car, you’ll be needing
either to rent one, take the shuttle bus service, or catch a taxi.
The car rental counters can be found at the
Arrivals Hall near baggage collection on the ground floor. If you’re looking
for a great car hire Darwin
Airport deal, then you
could save time and money by organising your rental through Carhire.com.au
Carhire has pooled together the prices and
specials of Australia’s
most popular car hire companies so you can directly compare quotes without
trawling through endless websites. Carhire has official contracts with Avis,
Hertz, Europcar, Budget and Thrifty and is able to pass on to its customers
specially negotiated discounts. If you’re not that way inclined, then the
taxi ranks can be found out the front (obviously). Or you could take the Darwin
Airport Shuttle, which has services operating daily between the airport and Darwin city accommodation.
Visit Darwin International
Airport for further information on arrivals, departures, and shopping
guides.
