Every year between July and October a migration of the world largest mammals takes place on the East Coast of Australia. As the Humpback Whale travels along the coast, it stops into Hervey Bay to rest and to play making it the best place to view these majestic creatures.
Many companies offer a range of cruises out on to the bay running both from the Mainland and from Fraser Island daily unless the weather dictates otherwise. Whales are seen breaching, “tail slapping” and “spy hopping” and keep your eye out for new calves with there mothers.
It is an amazing experience to see the whales up close and a must do when in the Hervey Bay Region.
