At the base of the Snowy Mountains is the small town of Tumut. This pretty town is worth a detour to visit. With tree lined streets, crystal clear water and friendly people you will feel welcomed from the moment that you call in.
Every year at the beginning of autumn is the Festival of the Falling Leaf. This is a celebration of all things autumn.
When in Tumut try wetting a line in the Tumut River. Rainbow & Brown Trout are fantastic fishing sport and are found in this river. Keep your eyes peeled for platypus that also live in the less populated and fished areas of the river. If this has wett your appetite head to Blowering Dam and try your luck for some Yellow Belly or Red Fin.
Blowering Dam is also a wonderful spot for those who like to hike and get amongst nature.
